11 Participants: Cory and Ingo Werk (our hosts), Greg Hargrave, Marcelo Cruz, Ken Deemer, Gene Banman, Dave Witherow, Steve Persky, Barry Boscoe, Lee Weinberg, Andrew Reiner, Russ Skibsted, Tom Turney.
A small group of us headed to the bayous of Louisiana for a medley of canoeing, alligators, crawfish boils, and zydeco. We took part in the first 30 miles of the annual Tour du Teche, a 135 mile race along the Bayou Teche near Breaux Bridge Louisiana. We were in the “fun” category, so no pressure. We didn’t even cover the whole 30 miles, but did end up at a local brewery to celebrate our canoeing prowess. Other days were spent exploring Lake Martin and the Atachafalaya Basin. Along the way we enjoyed a Zydeco breakfast, the world Gumbo championships and plenty of food, drinks and music.
